The Active Directory Locked-out Users report presents comprehensive information about AD user accounts that have been locked out due to exceeding the maximum allowed number of invalid login attempts as defined in the Domain Lockout Policy. This report provides detailed data such as the time of lockout, number of incorrect password attempts, and other relevant information. It encompasses both remote and conventional user logins. To generate this report, the user attribute “lockoutTime” is queried, and the domain’s Account Lockout Policy is checked to determine the lockout duration. The lockout duration specifies the number of minutes an account remains locked before automatic unlocking is triggered or before the administrator manually unlocks it.

This report serves the purpose of identifying whether the lockouts were a result of human errors by employees or if there were any malicious attempts to gain unauthorized access within the environment. Furthermore, it aids in meeting compliance requirements such as SOX and HIPAA for monitoring locked-out user accounts.
